Main themes The course analyzes the following themes: Definition of the problematic of natural law, particularly in relation with legal positivism. Study of some major theories of natural law, in particular the modern ones. Current signification of natural law. References to some contemporary theories. Analysis, among the so-called material sources of positive law, of the moral idea of external social justice and of human rights. The lecture may be completed with other pedagogic methods, if necessary. As from the second year of the lecturer's tenure, the course material will be provided at the beginning of the course.
Aims This teaching is addressed to student in law who are led to use, in their studies as in their practices, a considerable number of terms having moral significations or connotations. The course introduces to the moral conceptions and their identification, and analyzes the problems they pose.
