Main themes Questions of neurology, neuropsychology of the normal and pathologic ageing as well as psychopathology of the brain damaged adult. - introduction to the adult neurological examination (including elementary notions on technical examination in imagery and electrophysiology); - presentation of the main neurological syndromes (brain stem, basal ganglia, cortex, etc…) and introduction to the main neurological diseases ( multiple sclerosis, cranial trauma, cerebral vascular accident, etc…) - presentation of dementia syndromes with a particular attention on the Alzheimer disease; - discussion on the diagnostic of normal and pathologic ageing differential and the theoretical interest of these troubles in cognitive neuropsychology; - brain damaged patient in good health; - influence of the patient personality on the taking over of brain damaged patients; - influence of anxiety and depression on cognitive functions with a particular attention to the question of the differential diagnostic between depression and neurodegenerative pathologies.
Aims a. give elementary notions of neurology needed by a non-doctor therapist (psychologist or speech therapist) who will have to work in close interaction with neurologists, psychiatrists and geriatrician. b. Familiarize the future practitioner in the field of psychology or speech therapy with the characteristics of the normal and pathological cognitive ageing. c. Make the psychologist or the speech therapist sensitive to relational and psychiatric aspects of the taking over of patients with brain damages or with neurodegenerative pathology.
