Aramaic Languages II (Aramaic) (partim) [ LGLOR2642R ]

For students of theology: LGLOR1641 partim or LGLOR1642 partim.

Alternately with LGLOR2641, this course deals with the following themes:

For Aramean (first term) :
' a  commented translation of extracts of Targums, of papyri from Elephantine and of Qumran texts (22.5 hours of course);
' personal translation of extracts of Targums or Qumran texts (7.5 hours of exercises).

Mastery of detailed notions of  the grammar of Aramean.
At the end of this course, the student will be capable of translating (with a dictionary) Aramean documents found in Egypt (Hermopolis, Elephantine), at Qumran or extracts of Targums;
