Main themes

During the academic year 2010-2011, the following topics were discussed:
- how efficiently present European current events today?
- the area of freedom, security and justice (the treatment of the Roma, the visa policy of the EU)
- the development of the Internal Market (Report Monti, the Single Market Act)
- the EU competition policy (merger, antitrust and state aid control)
- which economic governance in the EU? (notion of economic government, crisis of the euro area ...).

The topical issues for the current academic year will be defined at the end of 2011.

Aims

The purpose of this seminar is to establish links between the lessons of the program and contemporaneous issues of European interest, generally extensively treated by the media. Each topical issue selected is the subject of a double approach: 1. it is first presented by the teacher 2. a speaker (journalist, MEP, member of a lobby, a staff of institutions ...) is then invited to deal with the issue.

Evaluation methods

Oral or written examination.
