Questions of religious sciences: biblical readings [ LTECO1001 ]

As appears from its title, this course will be centered on the Bible, and, more precisely, on its least read part - at least on the Christian side - namely the Old Testament. In the contemporary cultural context, such an approach of the Bible cannot be considered without a minimum of a general introduction (4 h) before approaching the very finality of the course: the reading of the texts themselves. Since most students come from the Faculty of Law, priority will be granted to the study of legislative texts. Thereby we shall show the originality of biblical Law, its coherence and its richness, as well as its inspiring value for today. We hope to arouse theological and anthropological reflections and create links with other parts of the programme. A course of 'biblical reading' cannot be conceived without an immediate access to the biblical text itself. Every student should therefore be requested to get a Bible for the whole course and bring it at each class. If you don't have any, please borrow your parents' or your grandparents'.
