Main themes - The variations and cultural specificities of the concepts of health, psychic diseases, symptomatology, complaints and need for help, interventions and their social consequences; - The problems of the connections between the individual and universal character of the studied phenomena, and between their somatic, psychic and social dimension; - The approach of these phenomena in the framework of the current relationship of other societies, notably traditional societies, with the West, in these societies and in our; - The study of the dimension and the psychic effects of the various forms of transplant (immigration, exile, etc.)at the individual, familial and in the community level and at the intergenerational scale. - The analysis of the processes at stake in the intercultural conflict, crisis, disorder and psychological work (notably: the importance of the language, beliefs and religion, for instance in the case of psychotherapeutic links between Belgians and Maghreb immigrants.
Aims Study the cultural and intercultural dimension of the phenomena related to clinical psychology - Analyze researches and theories which take into account this dimension in clinical psychology, cultural and social psychology, sociology and psychiatry. - Analyze the development of their implications on intervention methods in the intercultural field.
Content As far as the method is concerned, the course has the following characteristics: - Ex-cathedra lectures; - Clinical illustrations; - Call for life accounts and students' reflections; - Audio-visual documents presenting the phenomena and the clinical interventions in different socio-cultural contexts; - Accounts of external practitioners specialized in the field; - Demand to read fundamentals texts or illustration. As far as the content is concerned: - Study the cultural and intercultural dimension of the phenomena related to clinical psychology; - Analyze researches and theories which take into account this dimension in clinical psychology, cultural and social psychology, sociology and psychiatry; - Analyze the development of their implications on intervention methods in the intercultural field.
Other information Evaluation: oral exam. It consists of a presentation of a personal reflection work about a specific question and a reference material to be defined. Support: detailed plan, bibliography, texts portfolio, audio-visual documents.
