Main themes

Definitions of families/couples and family/couple psychology, b) Descriptions of associations between families/couples, clinical psychology and mental disorders in children and adults, c) Presentation of different models and theories of family/couple psychology (structures, dimensions, competencies, functions etc.), d) Introduction in diagnostics of families/couples (indications, clinical uses, methodological aspects, instruments etc.), e) Presentation of different aspects of therapeutic methods of family/couple therapies (goals, indications, therapeutic approaches, therapeutic relations et methods, efficacies), f) Presentations and discussions of examples and studies concerning aspects of family/couple psychology connected with the onset, course and relapse of mental disorders (e.g. depression in adults, behavior problems in children).

Aims

Acquiring basic knowledge about different aspects of family/couple psychology in the context of clinical psychology and mental disorders, b) Making yourself familiar with different aspects of diagnostic methods and instruments in family/couple psychology, c) Learning about basics of  different  therapeutic approaches, strategies et technics of family/couple therapies, d) Thinking about ethical, therapeutic and methodological problems in the family/couple field, e) Transferring theoretical knowledge to practical case examples.

Evaluation methods

The exam takes place in the test session at the end of the class including open and multiple choice questions.
