Evaluation methods

Oral exam on the basis of pre-prepared text.

Teaching methods

The course is given during the whole year.

Students receive a copy of the texts studied or the manuals referred to, and the active participation of the students at the course is desirable, based of course on the preparation beforehand.

Content

The course consists of a consolidation of the knowledge and philology of  Sanskrit  language and philology.

The commented readings deals with poetical texts (kâvya) or technical texts (câstra) in classical Sanskrit, with special attention given to, on the one hand, philological questions of edition and the critical apparatus, and on the other hand, the translation of  native glosses.
