Prerequisites
Thorough knowledge of Classical Latin (equivalent to bachelor level).
Main themes
In-depth study of specific questions of Latin synchronic or diachronic linguistics.
The lecturer will deal with one or several themes relating to the synchronic functioning and to the history of the Latin language, with regards to current linguistic research: syntactic functions and semantic roles, aspects of lexicology, problems of phonology, the interpretation of archaic texts, relations with the other languages and dialects of ancient Italy.
Aims
At the end of this course, the student will be familiar with the methods and results of current research on the subjects dealt with.
Evaluation methods
Examen oral.
Teaching methods
Lectures combined with presentations by the students.
Content
The course will deal with one or more specific questions of Latin synchronic or diachronic linguistics. The content of the course will vary from year to year in function of the themes dealt with.
