An introduction to the Asian world, focused on China.
Alternately with LGLOR1542, this course deals with the chronological, geographical, political, institutional, intellectual, economic and social framework of the Chinese world.

Aims |
At the end of this course, the student will have a better understanding of the framework of the history of the Chinese world. He will be able to identify the appropriate sources of information that are available in western languages.

Content |
Consecrated specifically to the Chinese world, The course begins with a reminder of the geography and population of eastern Asia and a brief look at the history of the countries neighbouring China. It then treats successively the political, institutional, intellectual, economic and social aspects of the history of the Chinese world, referring to the main classical dynastic periods of Chinese historiography.
