Prerequisites |
It is helpful to have already knowledge of German basic grammar (like someone who has already participated in a two-years cours for beginners) but the course is open to beginners.

Main themes |
- Studies of German Phonetics and morphology;
- German Sentence Types, Grammatical Functions;
- Detailed Description of Basic Rules concerning: Verbs, (Pro-) Nouns, Adjectives/Adverbs, Determiners, Prepositions, conjunctions and particles.

Aims |
Introduction to descriptive German grammar. The understanding and utilization of (basic) German grammatical rules to facilitate the acquisition of a German "competence grammar".

Evaluation methods |
- Partial (written) test in German, optional. The test will be written at the end of the first quadrimester (December).
- General (written) test in German, obligatory. The test will be written in June and September.

Content |
Title. German Basic Grammar Summary. Introduction to descriptive German grammar. Studies of German Phonetics. German sentence types (infinitivals, finite sentences and sentence mood), German word order, Grammatical functions. Detailed description of basic rules concerning form an distribution of: verbs, (pro-) nouns, adjectives/adverbs, determiners, and prepositions. Declination of nouns and adjectives, conjugation of verbs. Subcategorization properties of lexical categories. Teaching: Lecture, Exercises in Class
