Main themes

The teaching implies a theoretical part which consists in the analysis and the evaluation of the legislative texts and the actions of some international authorities (UNESCO) and in some achievements at the national level (Belgium, France, England). It implies a practical part presenting the panorama of the tools to be used in the preservation and the management of the archaeological patrimony.

General training to the management of the archaeological patrimony.

Teaching methods

The main part of the teaching concern reports covering the whole of the legal questions, the methods and the achievements relating to the archaeological patrimony's management. The teaching will be accompanied by the presentation of some concrete experiments.

Content

The theoretical teaching constitutes a legal and practical approach of the conventions and international charters having like objective the management of the archaeological patrimony (Valetta) and proposes to analyze some national legal systems employed for the protection of the archaeological patrimony (in English "Heritage"). Some achievements will be presented in particular that continued in the archaeological patrimony: implication of territory planning, financial development of archaeology in the public or private planning, preventive policy as regards investigations, preliminary inventories and cartography of the archaeological sites, political of sensitization of the public and prevention of the illicit circulation of the archaeological patrimony's elements. The practical teaching will propose some cases studies and a general vision of the best management tools of the archaeological patrimony.
