Content

2011-2012
The lectures of this year will deal with the theme of creation. That God
is creator of heaven and earth is a essential feature of christian faith.
How did the Middle Ages theologians understand it? Is the biblical
narrative of Gen 1 to be taken litterally? How is the discrepancy
between the biblical concept of creation and the doctrines of greek
philosophers about world genesis to be considered? As a mark of   the
truth of christian faith  either  of the falsehood of philosophical pagan
doctrines or as an opportunity to  extent the theological understanding
of divine creation by elucidating its content by means of philosophical
categories?
The course will  take into account the diverse theological methods used in
the Middle ages (monastic theology, scolastic theology, and the beginnings of  positive theology) and consider their relevance  with regards to the
creation issue.
