Main themes

To meet these objectives, the course is broken down as follows: - starting from concrete examples, a reflection on the theological function and import of works of art and on the place of arts in the religions (in particular Christianity), in their rites and their symbolic systems; - initiation to the understanding of works of art in religious matters, notably in light of their context.

Aims

Art and Religion By the end of this course, the student should be able to undertake critical reflection into the relations between arts and religions and to acknowledge the capacity of works of art to represent the faith.

Content Theoretical expositions about relationship between art and religion (see object of the activity) and study of some works of art with religious stamp. The teacher chooses a theme or a historical period.
