Main themes The topic of this course is the psychological study of the human being as an individual, that is, - what distinguishes him and differentiates him from other individuals - how the formation of his personality is organized and - where he is situated within the natural and social universe.

Content Introduction to the methods of studying individual and personality differences. Examination of the differences between individuals in intelligence and personality, the differences between groups according to variables such as age or sex as well as differences between social groups. Questions about the origin of these differences: heredity, constitutional and environmental factors etc. Formation of an individual personality, based on current theories and models of personality. Critical thinking on the origin and consequences of the Western notion of the individual, as a being distanced from elements such as the body, animality, nature, society and the universe. Methods Two main approaches. First, students are responsible for their own learning, from reference books. They can choose to do a more in-depth examination of some topics. Second, there are lectures, with projections and a manual.
Other information Prerequisites Preferably the first year of psychology. At the minimum, a course in general psychology. Assessment Written examination on a standardized questionnaire. Depending on the supervision available, an individual contribution in the form of an assignment based on recommended reading may also be required from students.
