Main themes Thorough analysis of the stakes and the constraints of contemporary international journalism. Critical course of the read currents of those. Analyze these sets of themes in Belgian space.
Aims This course sets out to acquire a critical understanding of the issues of multi-media journalism, and aims to give students the key skills for operating in the area of the media. This study is restricted to the exercise of day-to-day journalistic work, and therefore excludes aspects of design and planning. The course follows a specialised logic, and is an extension of Course COMU2282 (Workshop on writing for the press).
Content Contents: Introduction to the analysis of the stakes of information. Course of the intellectual and political postures of analysis. Analyze principal stakes: - commercial constraints and capital intellectual; - technological constraints, acceleration and validity of information; - formatting of the journalistic writing, cognition and creativity; - editorial strategies and profitability; - image and information; - imbalances of world flows of information. Analyze Belgian specificities. Method: This course will be the subject of masterly talks, illustrated many analyses of case. .
Other information This course will be the subject of an examination evaluating the knowledge of the matter and the capacity of the student to analyze concrete cases. A written support synthesizing the matter seen with the course and proposing a wallet of texts of reference will be placed at the disposal of the students.
