Main themes The topics covered in the course are directly linked to the objectives listed above : - examination of the different disciplines involved in the analysis of human conflict with special emphasis on a psycho-social analysis of the problem - examination of the different techniques in conflict management, particularly negotiation and mediation techniques - discussion of the role of psychologists in the management of human conflict - analysis of the personal skills of students in relation to the management or resolution of human conflict
Aims This course is based on the acknowledgement that psychologists are frequently called upon to manage human conflict. This course examines human conflict in many forms. The course also provides a theoretical introduction to negotiation and mediation techniques. Against this background, the course is designed to meet various objectives : - to familiarize students with the different interpretations that can be made of human conflict - to understand the psychological mechanisms which can explain their emergence and their development - to analyse the procedures which exist for resolving and/or managing human conflict, with special emphasis on the analysis of negotiation and mediation techniques - to specify what role the psychologist can play in managing human conflict
Content To familiarize students with the study of human conflict and with tehmanagement techniques for the management and resolution of conflict. The course is mostly in the form of lectures based on a series of texts, chosen to promote interactivity. There is also an assignment requiring analysis of the personal skills of students in relation to the management or resolution of human conflict.
