Table of contents :
- The notion of sentence (historical and critical approach) and the organization of texts beyond the sentence.
- The principles of microsyntax and macrosyntax (dependency grammar, valence and rection, syntactic units).
- The organization of discourse (discourse markers, cohesion and coherence relations).
- Intonation and punctuation as marks of the segmentation of discourse.

Aims |
At the end of the course, the student is requested to :
- Master the concepts of syntax, macro-syntax and discourse analysis;
- Apply models of analysis to fragment of spoken and written speech;
- Interpret functional and literary texts according to theories such as "grammaire textuelle".

Content |
Content. The focus of this course will be on textual organization of spoken and written texts from the level of micro- and macrosyntax. Special attention will be paid to formal indicators of text segmentation (intonation, punctuation, discourse markers), and to differences in register (spoken vs. written) or in text-type (narratives, academic, drama, face-to-face conversation, etc.).
Methods. The course consists of lectures and exercises.
