Evaluation methods

- Written exam (18/20) : questions concerning: a) the definition of linguistic concepts, to be illustrated by means of examples; b) language: fill in the blancs of one or various texts taken from the corpus; and c) metalinguistic reflection : explain the use of certain forms in the corpus, using the adecuate grammatical and linguistic terminology. This implies the analysis of corpus excerpts as to constituent structure and/or syntactic analysis of the sentence.

-Written paper, in pairs (2/20) : the deadline as well as a more detailed description of the task will be published on i-campus.

Teaching methods

The course is divided into two parts: sessions in a large group and tutorials in small groups. The sessions in large groups are devoted to the acquisition of grammatical contents by means of an inductive method. Activity is conceived as the key of the learning process. Most of the explanations are based on the reference grammar included in the bibliography.

The tutorials are devoted to the internalization and automatization of the contents introduced in the large group sessions by means of: 1) communicative exercises; 2) the correction of structural exercises; 3) an task on a dramatic text consisting of : - performance of an excerpt of the play, - and written assessment about the syntactic structures of the excerpt (see more detailed instructions on i-campus).

- Consolidation and deepening of complex morphosyntactic contents from a normative point of view corresponding to level B2;

- Analysis of these contents;

-Speech acts characteristic of B2 level;

- Language registers, and their linguistic specificities.
