Main themes This course is given alternatively with GLOR 2782, and deals with New Testament Greek. It gives an introduction to specific questions of morphology, syntax and lexicology as found in biblical texts. Particular focus is given upon influences found in this type of language (either semitisms or latinisms), literary genres, evidence for translation and phenomena of bilinguism. Students in biblical studies are invited to get more acquainted with tools used in classical philology, and classicists with those used in biblical studies. Commented reading of selected texts constitutes the basis of the lecture.
Aims Introduction to specific questions of grammar and lexicology as found in the Greek New Testament, with particular focus upon semitisms, evidence for translation or bilinguism.

Other information Required competences: elementary knowledge of Ancient Greek. Constant evaluation (preparation and participation) is completed by the final exam at the end of the year. Texts and other material are given by the teacher.
