Main themes The theme will change according to the year. However, the approach will mainly be sociological, anthropological and political.
Aims This lecture wishes to deepen the student's knowledge of Eastern cultures, and more specifically Indian culture. It is the continuation of the lecture GLOR 1542.
Content The emphasis will be put on the different ways to approach society, culture, politics and religion. India will be privileged. Caste, untouchability, politics and popular religion will be among the different topics under study.
Other information Prerequisite : the lecture GLOR 1542 Culture and Civilisation of India and the Far East is strongly advised. Evaluation : the students will be orally examined. Attendance to the lecture is compulsory. An essay on a specific topic might be also be required.
