Main themes |
The precise reading or translation of an author of the medieval or renaissance Latin civilization is accompanied by a literary explanation in line with the history of European literatures, the evolution of the themes and of the literary genres, new orientations of text analysis. Without being the priority, special attention is also paid to the linguistic and rhetorical explanation : observation of remarkable language facts, of characteristic language traits of each age, analysis of the different language levels, prosody and metrics, style procedures, etc.

Aims |
At the end of the course, the students must be able : to translate and explain the passages studies during the course ; - to globally understand a text they read for the first time at the exam and which they prepare individually; - to write a paper on the problematic linked to the work or author studied.

The precise reading or translation of an author of the medieval or renaissance Latin civilization is accompanied by a thorough literary and linguistic explanation. In 2006-2007, the Correspondance between Héloïse and Abelard.
