Main themes The aim of this course is to demonstrate that translating ancient Greek texts is not an easy process. One is expected to know the historical and philosophical elements which influenced the author's work and the historical and philosophical elements which influence our modern interpretation. This approach is implemented interactively by teacher and students. The final examination takes into account the student's personal contributions.
Aims Since moderately difficult Greek texts are taught at Bachelor level, this course gives advanced students further training in translating more difficult texts. It also allows them to apply methods related to different fields of Humanities (history, anthropology, esthetics, etc.).
Content Content to be defined for academic year 2009-2010.
Other information Prerequisites: students are expected to be familiar with Greek literature and to have a good command of the Greek language (provided by the Greek language courses in Bachelor studies). Evaluation: Oral examination.
