Main themes Philological and literary study of important extracts of Latin authors of Late antiquity; documentary value of the work (author, age, realia); human value of the conveyed message (continuity and breaks) ; linear and structuring reading; translation of text, accompanied by a comprehensive commentary. This course makes use of modern information and communication technologies. It involves teamwork in a discussion forum as well as other web-based activities.
Aims To train the students on the various analyzing methods of literary texts by introducing them to the message of Latin authors of Late antiquity.
Content Thorough study and comments of Latin authors of Late antiquity. Survival and alteration of themes, images, literary genres in Late Latin. This course uses information and communication technologies by implementing interactive pedagogy. All the resources of philological and literary comments, and the study of metrics and of its stylistic potentialities are used when reading the works of the poets. In 2005-2006, the biblical epic in Latin.
