Prerequisites

 Basic training in biomedical engineering

Main themes
  • Presentation of research topics by specialists of the domain (seminar)
  • Presentation by the student of a research subject belonging to the field of biomedical engineering
Aims
  • Give the student the opportunity to approach advanced questions in biomedical engineering.
  • Develop a critical mind and a global approach towards scientific research
  • Initiate the student to scientific communication
Evaluation methods

The evaluation will be based on the two following criteria :

1) the ability to present the topic clearly
2) the command and understanding of the presented work

Teaching methods

The student is invited to present a seminar on a subject connected with a seminar he/she attended in the course of the year. The student can find his/her presentation materials in books or journal papers concerning any of the seminar subjects. The total presentation duration is 25 minutes (18 minutes for the presentation, 7 minutes for a question and answer session with the assessment jury).

Content

Researchers and specialists of the biomedical engineering domain and its applications present a seminar about their research results, followed by a question and answer session.Students attend this seminar actively. They are asked to present a seminar on a subject of their choice, connected with one of the seminars. They are evaluated, among other criteria, on their scientific communication skills.
