Main themes |
The seminar will deal with a theme in the area of philosophical anthropology determined by the members of the seminar with reference to research projects in which they are involved.
Active participation by students at each meeting is strongly encouraged.
Professors, UCL researchers who have an interest in the topic, and specialists in the topic from outside the UCL may be members of the seminar.

Aims |
Upon completion of the seminar the student will be able to :
Develop a theme for research in the area of philosophical anthropology on the basis of a critical analysis of major works and texts by authors dealing with the theme being studied, and also the contributions presented within the framework of the seminar ;
Write a scientific paper dealing with a precisely delimited research question that is important in relation to the seminar theme.
Participate actively in cooperative research in philosophical anthropology, especially in discussions of contributions made within the framework of the seminar ;

Content |
The seminar, for this year, will be devoted to the study, in Henry, Sartre, Merleau-Ponty and Levinas, of the relationship between body, desire and language.

Other information |
Prerequisites : - Students shall have completed a basic course in philosophical anthropology. They shall have a general acquaintance with the main problems, schools of thought, and concepts in this area. Evaluation : - Evaluation will focus on a student paper, and on participation in the activities of the seminar.
