Aims

The objective of the seminar is to get students familiar with the methodology of master thesis researches. At the end of the seminar, students will be able to identify and apply the most common methodologies and research designs in European studies.

Evaluation methods Evaluation is based on a very short paper (3 to 5 pages) presenting the master thesis and its research design. Presentation of the thesis by student during the seminar will also be taken into consideration.
Teaching methods During the first year of the master, three lectures will be given by the teacher to present the objectives and requirements of a master thesis. During the second year, the seminar will rely on presentations made by the students. Every student will have to present his/her master thesis. The other students will discuss every presentation.
Content During the first year of the master, students will get familiar with methodological aspects of the master thesis research: presentation of bibliographical references, choice of a research design, ways for gathering information and references. During the second year of the master, students will have to prepare a presentation of their master thesis, with a main focus on the methodology and the results. Students should be able to answer the questions asked by colleagues and/or professor. The presentation must last from 10 to 15 minutes and all students will have to use "Power Point-type" slideshows.
