Main themes The report is a thorough work of information research and of thought, with the aim of looking further into and/or of realising the academic learnings. It is to solve or to contribute to solve a problem, or to take stock of an interdisciplinary question in the field of the environment. This consists in a personal work : development of the conceptual framework, choice of methodology, collect of information, critical analysis, synthesis.
Aims The aim of the thesis is to allow student to develop his capacity to produce and structure a personal work, by exerting autonomy and critical view. The topic of the thesis has to be selected so that student integrates the various competences acquired during his university courses.
Content The student is responsible to scan for and to find a subject, and an academic promoter. The student will work on the selected topic and will write his report by exchanging with the promoter, on a regular basis, state of the work.
Other information The thesis leads to a written report which will be presented by the student publicly and orally in front of a jury. The oral defence of the report will be of half an hour, starting with a 10-15 minutes presentation of the object of the work, of the results and of the implications. The student will take care to clearly explain interest of the research, in a comprehensible context for the other students. This presentation will be followed by an exchange of questions and answers. The thesis will be quoted on the basis of the assessment of both written and oral presentation. The assessment relates to the : - scientific content, - rigour of methodology, - quality of the analysis and of the synthesis, - quality of the oral defence; - quality of the written report, - originality of the subject.
