Main themes - Description and explanatory analysis of demographic changes by great sub-region in the world (Europe, Latin America, Africa, Asia, etc.) - Worldwide comparative analysis of demographic phenomena (fertility, mortality, nuptiality, migrations) and their determinants (socio-cultural, economic and political). - In depth studies of specific countries.
Aims Acquire an extensive comparative knowledge of demographic situations and evolutions of populations through-out the world in relation with the social and economic transitions of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Other information Introduction to demography (SPED 1211) is recommended. Written exam. Portfolio of readings.
