This course in methodology deals with the entire process of quantification in criminology : data identification, categorization, management, extraction, calculation and interpretation.  This subject matter is directly linked to the mastery of computing tools allowing its application : relational databases and spreadsheets.  Each stage is approached in taking elements of informational critique and the data's epistemological value into account.

Aims

Based on a corpus of documents and a research problem, students having taken this course will be able to create a database allowing them to exploit these documents, produce relevant figures with regard to the problem based on their database, as well as representing and exploiting them in an optimal way.
