Main themes The teacher will get through these following subject matters : 1. Evolution of today's way of data collection in anthropology. 2. Audio-visual anthropology's epistemology. 3. Audio-visual narrative models : ethnographic films analysis. 4. Introduction to shooting (DV camera) and to numerical acquisition 5. Introduction to sound capture 6. Introduction to software such as Final Cut Express - Pro with Adobe Première and Imovie. 7. Introduction to DVD Studio Pro software. 8. Steps and making of an audio-visual anthropology research.
Aims At the end of this workshop : 1. The student will be introduced to new contemporary use of notebook during field observation with images as main data. 2. The student will be able to determine the epistemological stakes of such anthropology. 3. The student will know the different models of audio-visual narrative technique. 4. The student will be introduced to software (Final Cut, DVD Studio Pro, etc…) used in audio-visual data process-ing. 5. The student will realise a first work with other students: from digital data production to film edition.
Content 1. Ethnographic films analysis. 2. Technical workshop : shooting and editing with the support of the audio-visual anthropology lab. 3. Documentary production Collaborative work with television networks is eventually possible.
