Fast reading techniques
Vocabulary :
reinforcement of basic vocabulary + (general and medical) vocabulary building
Grammatical and lexical difficulties:
- tenses (active and passive voices),
- modal auxiliaries,
- compounds,
- false friends,
- prepositions,
- link words.

Aims |
The main aim of this receptive course is to develop students' reading skills.
Reading comprehension
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
- grasp the content and significance of articles and reports on topics connected with their interests or their jobs.
Level B1 of the « Common European Framework of References for Languages ».

Content |
CONTENT:
Portfolio of authentic texts relating to Public Health (newspapers, magazines, encyclopedias,
).
TEACHING METHODS:
- Extensive reading of texts at home using reading strategies;
- Content-based activities in class;
- Analysis of and comments on the texts;
- Lexical extension exercises and comments on language points.

Assessment
Exemption test (1st term) and Written Exam (2nd term):
- vocabulary exercises,
- summary,
- reading comprehension activities on seen and unseen passages.
