Main themes |
The course focuses on the analysis of sociological and legal principles affecting the field of family policies through the study of different topics each year.
In addition to current topics, the following is a list of possible themes, by way of illustration :
- links between professional and family life ;
- place of children in family policies ;
- family life in minority groups ;
- disadvantaged families ;
- role of women in families and society.

Aims |
To learn to view family policies through the profound changes they are undergoing and the ideologies which attempt to define them.

Content |
The chosen topics are analysed in different areas of the law : human rights, civil law, social law, tax law, criminal law etc. They are also covered from a sociological perspective which makes use of a wide variety of paradigms.
Students should be able to critically assess the different principles which will emerge from this process.
The course is made up of interactive oral presentations. This does not exclude presentations from students, participation from experts etc.
This course has an interdisciplinary perspective : political, legal and sociological.

Prerequisites : subject courses from the first year of the Master's degree
Assessment : the methods of assessment will be explained by the lecturer(s) in charge at the beginning of the course.
Support : reading folder and collection of working documents and legislation.
