Aims |
At the end of the course, the future teachers of French as a foreign language will be able to understand the phonetic and phonological difficulties experienced by non-francophones in acquiring the present-day Standard French, and to suggest solutions for these difficulties.

Content |
This course is intended for future teachers of French as a foreign language. It aims at the understanding of the difficulties met by non-francophone students in acquiring a phonetic and phonologic system for the present-day Standard French. A first theoretical part will approach the phonological system of French and other languages from the point of view of the acoustic and articulatory phonetics. Various corrective methods will be also presented. In a second part of the course, the students will collect and analyse recordings of non-francophone speakers from different countries. They will also elaborate a programme in order to remedy to the difficulties highlighted.

Evaluation: written examination. A written work is also required for the practical part of the course.
