Main themes The course presents a historical course of the 20th century which stresses the cultural implications of the social and economic political transformations.
Aims At the end of the course, the student: - will master the principal aspects and stages of the history of Spain at the 20th century, - will be able to locate in its historical context a literary or artistic work of the 20th Spanish century.
Content The course alternates the explanations on the great stages of the Spanish history of the 20th century, with large plans on the most significant cultural currents, presented starting from an outstanding work. 1. The Restoration (1875-1923). Cultural File 1: Gaudi; 2. From the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera to the civil war (1923-1939). Cultural file 2: The house of the Spanish Republic at the World Fair of Paris. The trajectory of J. Miro and P. Picasso; 3. From the beginning of the Franco's regime till our days (1939-2000). Cultural file 3: The movida and the cinema of P.Almodovar.
Other information Other informations (Prerequisite, Evaluation, Support, ...) Prerequisite: Advanced Spanish level. Oral exam in Spanish on the basis of a paper. Support: Textual documents (historical and literary), visual and audio-visual varied.
