Main themes This course comprises two parts : first, class sessions and, second, an online part (iCampus). 1st part (class sessions, 15 hours) - technology of multimedia and the internet - typology of the education tool and uses (software, multimedia, e-learning) - e-learning and platforms : iCampus as an example - educational reference models for an effective use of technology - cognitive and ergonomic aspects - design and production of multimedia projects - support for set up of on-line training support for set up of on-line training 2nd part (online) - e-learning from a learner's perspective (report or teaching procedure to be produced by online group work)
Aims By the end of this course, students will be better able to - understand the different terms and concepts used in multimedia and internet technologies - categorize the different tools and uses of technology in training - understand the way in which educational innovations are adopted within institutions - refer to reference models to analyse educational developments and application of technology in training - identify and analyse the component factors from a cognitive and ergonomic perspective - understand the different new roles offered by developments in and use of technology in training - give an account of and analyse their experience in learning situations based on e-learning - asses the effectiveness of these technologies in training
Content The topic of the course is the use of technology in teaching and learning. In addition to the 7 modules of two hours at the beginning of the semester which are designed to provide students with basic terminology and concepts, this course provides the opportunity to experience and analyse CSCW (Computer Supported Collaborative Work) and to make use of the different practical features of an online training platform. This method introduces a good deal of flexibility. Assessment is on the assignments - 1) Multimedia and internet techniques (ML) - 2) Typology of the educational tools and uses (software, multimedia, e-learning) (ML, FD DS) - 3) e-learning and platforms : iCampus as an example (ML) - 4) Educational reference models for an effective use of technology (ML) - 5) Cognitive and ergonomic aspects (GL) - 6) Design and production of multimedia projects (DS) - 7) Support for set up of on-line training (FD)
