| Main themes |
To train students in the analysis and practice of the interview:
- according to the outcomes they wish to achieve in various areas,
- according to the special characteristics of the subjects (age, sex, socio-cultural background etc.)
- according to the kinds of intervention (individual, group, institutional)

By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- analyse the various types of interviews
- know the basis and special features of each type
- assess the relational dynamics and the psychological processes at work
- identify the position and attitudes adopted by the practitioner
- conduct an interview themselves and assess it

| Content |
Main themes
- outcomes of the psychological interview: research, survey, help, diagnosis, therapy etc.
- interview setting : space, time, variables likely to influence the interview
- analysis of supply and demand
- attitudes of the practitioner (listening, empathy, authenticity, respect etc.)
- relational dynamics (projection, identification, transference and countertransference)
Methods
Lectures on the key theoretical elements alternating with practical work sessions.
Much of the 30 hours (vol.2) of practical work is organized in sessions led by tutors who themselves have experience of practical training for interviewing.
Role plays and detailed qualitative analysis of the interviews conducted by students conducted by the students encourage active involvement.
Period 1 : lecture
Presentation of the various types of interviews and methods for intervention. Key notions and presentation of the framework of the two interviews each student has to conduct individually.
Period 2 : individual and group work
First interview and first group analysis.
Period 3 : lecture
Review of difficulties students have encountered ; theoretical perspectives.
Period 4 : individual and group work
Second interview and second group analysis.

Prerequisites: Introduction to clinical psychology course
Assessment: On students' individual conduct of interviews together with a group analysis of these interviews. The final assessment is on the production of a report (verbatim account of the interviews and analysis of a topic covered in the course).
Support : Manual and reading folder. Supervised groups (supervision by lecturer and assistants).
