Main themes The course is organized on the so-called "bio-psycho-social model". The main concepts in the following areas are introduced: a) "antecedents" : stress-trauma-emotions; personality-temperament; biologyl-genetics basis ; psychosocial-demographic factors b) "mediators and moderators" : social support; coping strategies; perception of emotional situations c) "issues, criteria, results" : mental, physical, social health; quality of life; subjective well-being d) "prevention, intervention, remediation" : professional social support; assessment of interventions The concepts are illustrated with many different examples and "clinical" situations and lead on to topics covered in the "Clinical interventions 1 and 2" course. Clinicians-researchers are invited to discuss specific topics and to create closer ties with the professional field.
