Main themes Emphasis will be on a critical use of various sources in efforts to reconstruct the geography of ancient times. Students will be shown how to use a cartographic software program, following which they will search libraries and archives for cartographic documentation.
Aims Sensitivization to various sources and methods of historical geography : written sources and toponymy, earth sciences, archeology, aerial photography, iconographical sources and ancient cartographic documents.
Content Sensitivization to various sources and methods of historical geography : written sources and toponymy, earth sciences, archeology, aerial photography, iconographical sources and ancient cartographic documents Accent is placed on critical use of one or more of them, notably, for reconstituting ancient landscapes The exposition relies on many graphic, photographic, iconographic and cartographic documents.
