Main themes In this course, in combination with the course GLOR 1632, students will be taught the aspects of Hebrew grammar and vocabulary necessary for enable them to read biblical texts of intermediate difficulty. At a first level, J. WEINGREEN's teaching method will be followed (Hébreu biblique. Méthode élémentaire, Paris, Beauchesne, 2e édition revue et corrigée, 2004), up to the end of the section on the regular verb. Irregular verbs will be dealt with during analysis of passages from the books of Samuel and Kings. The study of irregular verbs will be continued at a second level. Students' grammatical knowledge will be extended, with particular emphasis on syntax. The corpus of biblical texts analysed will include passages from the prophets.
Aims The course GLOR 1631, in combination with the course GLOR 1632, aims to teach students the rudiments of biblical Hebrew (grammar, vocabulary and biblical texts).

There will also be an oral examination on the texts studied in class. Course material: J. Weingreen, Hébreu biblique. Méthode élémentaire, Paris, Beauchesne, 2e édition revue et corrigée, 2004.
