Aims
This course, designed as an introduction to the ancient Near-Eastern and Egyptian civilisations, aims at giving students an overview of the historical and geographical background of these civilisations.
Content
The course deals with the ancient Near-Eastern (Asia Minor, Syria and Mesopotamia) and Pharaonic Egyptian civilisations. Historical introduction : geographical and chronological framework ; historical introduction: geographical and chronological framework; sources at the base of historical reconstructions; principle periods and key reigns; points of contact between different civilisations

Evaluation: Students will be assessed orally at the end of the year on their knowledge of the course and their required reading.
