Main themes |
This course consists of a one-week field excursion in the Alps. During several days, we will be guided by local experts and will be visiting their field area. During the excursion, a lot of attention will also be given to individual fieldwork. Small groups of students will work jointly on a specific topic that is related to e.g. biogeography, natural resource management, land use systems, land degradation.
|
Aims |
The main theme of this course is sustainable land use development. The use of the land in mountainous regions such as the French Alps is conditioned by numerous biophysical and socio-economic factors. These factors are subject to rapid change.
During this field excursion, we will focus at land use change, its driving factors and the interaction with the physical environment. Different case studies will be analyzed in the field under the guidance of local experts.
