Main themes This course develops the different aspects of the livestock in tropical area. The importance of the animals for the pastoral populations in a difficult economic and climatic context is lengthily approached through numerous examples illustrating the important diversity of this tropical world. The adaptation and qualities of the principal tropical domestic animals interesting for the man are developed while studying in addition to the traditional livestock, those of the mini-livestock. All the problems of the food and the watering of the livestock are studied. The tropical livestock systems (from the most extensive to the most intensive) are defined. Lastly, the study of the principal tropical diseases (glossina/trypanosomosa and ticks/parasitic blood) closes this course.
