Main themes Disciplinary themes varying annually will be selected and detailed by the teacher so as to facilitate access to the history and actors of anthropology. Lectures will address major and modern issues in the fields of culture (its grounding, symbolism, time and space perception, identity, objects, myth, magic, ritual and art) of social life (collective institutions and ideologies, man/woman relationships, division of labour, hierarchical stratification, power, rules and regulations, identity, change and reciprocity.
Aims Following on from the course the student - should have assimilated the main formative currents of anthropology - should be able to locate the major contributors to contemporary anthropology and fathom their contributions - should have acquired considered and considerable knowledge of the main theoretical trends in anthropology relative to social and cultural life - should be able to critically appreciate their respective strengths and weaknesses
Content Thanks to the lectures, contemporary key theoretical issues in anthropology relating to selected themes will be raised. Pedagogy: 1. lectures followed by exchange; 2. portfolio of readings and/or a syllabus; 3. case studies presented by participants and analysed with the conceptual tools provided. Lectures will be based where required on field experience so as to illustrate how anthropology goes about mak-ing sense of the data collected.

Master en anthropolo-gie) Les étudiants sont encadrés par deux professeurs, ainsi que par des chercheurs du LAAP et invités.
