Main themes To study veterinary drugs. The course will examine (a) the physiological and pathological bases needed to understand the indications and conditions of use of veterinary drugs, (b) the main classes of veterinary drugs, (c) the conditions of drug use in animals.
Aims To give to the future pharmacist a basic information on the usage of drugs in animals (pets, livestock). At the end of the course, the future pharmacist should : - understand the main differences in the use of drugs in humans and animals - know the physiopathological bases governing drug pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in animals - know the bases of pathologies specifically found in animals - know the pharmacology of the main drugs specifically used in animals (and of human drugs administered to animals) and their conditions of use.
Content - team of professors. Other persons could also be invited to speak about particular topics (crises related to epidemics, for example). - interactive seminars on different topics - discussion of clinical cases (physiopathology and treatment)
Other information required skills : physiopathology, general pharmacology, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics, special pharmacology and pharmacotherapy, integrated pharmacotherapy, biology, immunology Evaluation : oral examination consisting in presenting a clinical case (physiopathology and treatment) based on a prescription.
