Main themes	This course is given alternatively with GLOR 2781, and deals with the Septuagint. It gives an introduction to specific questions of morphology, syntax and lexicology as found in biblical texts. Particular focus is given upon semitic influences found in this type of language, literary genres, evidence for translation and phenomena of bilinguism. Students in biblical studies are invited to get more acquainted with tools used in classical philology, and classicists with those used in biblical studies. Commented reading of selected texts constitutes the basis of the lecture.

Other information	Required competences: elementary knowledge of Ancient Greek. Constant evaluation (preparation and participation) is completed by the final exam at the end of the year. Texts and other material are given by the teacher.
