By realizing his thesis, the student will have shown his/her aptitude to master the literature relating to a scientific question in psychological sciences, to make a theoretical and critical synthesis, resulting in a work hypothesis which will be submitted to tests, and to discuss these elements in a critical way, and in the light of existing literature.
Besides the issues related to the research question and the theory around the hypothesis, the thesis will include the set up and the realization of an empirical study as well as the analysis and discussions of collected data.
A thesis without collection of original empirical data is also possible. It would then have to be about a critical review of quantitative or qualitative (meta-analysis) literature. In particular situations, an exclusively theoretical question could also be possible.
Main themes
Write a text which reports the literature on the question; identify a question and test it with new data. This new data may come from original data, meta-analysis, quantitative or qualitative review, or theoretical questioning.
The text will be 80 pages maximum (not including possible appendixes), in double-line space, and in times new roman 12.

Evaluation: At the beginning of the first master, the student will acquaint with the rules of the thesis and will look for a teacher to accompany him/her in his/her project.
- This teacher will be officially specified in the end of the first semester of the first master.
- At the end of the first master, the student will submit to the teacher a report which will include an assessment of the literature (outline of the theoretical part of the report) and a specific proposal for empirical study. If these two points, during the first year (PSYM2001A), are judged satisfying by the teacher, the student will earn 6 credits and will be "eligible for the follow-up of his thesis".
- Individual and group supervision by the teacher and the support thesis seminar (see PSYM2002)
