The goal of the course of introduction to medical practice is to promote in the medical student a vision of medicine centered on the patient cared for by a health network with a multidisciplinary approach.
Specific objectives :
At the end of the formation, the student will have :
1-Acquired a better understanding of the pathway leading to the identification and recognition of the health problems of the individual in his familial and social environment.
2-Acquired a better understanding of the experience of "being sick" and of it's consequences on quality of life and on social insertion.
3-Acquired a better understanding of "primary health care" and of the importance of this level of services and health care for the patient, the health personnel and the society.
4-Acquired a better understanding of the hospital care system and of the health care network around the patient.
5- Developed his qualities for observing and analysing the health need felt and expressed, and the offer of services and health care proposed in response to this need.
6- Proved his capacity for a critical analysis of this experience and personal evolution during the education.
Main themes
The course includes three introductory lessons, a hospital stay as nurse auxiliary for one week and two observations of a half day in primary care. Five seminars are organized in group and a short synthesis by the student is required.
