Be able :- to take part actively in the activities of the international academic community in their own field of research; - to write a critical report on these activities.
Main themes
Take part in an international academic meeting (congress, conference, study days) lasting two or three days or spend two or three weeks in a research laboratory of another Belgian or foreign university, and write a 15 page (or 30,000 character) critical report on this activity.
A student enrolled in both LAFR 2983 and LAFR 2984 will be asked to take part (A) either in five days of academic meetings, (b) or a five week training course in a laboratory, (c) or to combine those two activities (two days of academic meetings + three weeks of training course, or three days of academic meetings + two weeks of training course). His report will consist of 25 pages (or 50,000 characters).
Content and teaching methods
At the beginning of the academic year, advanced students enrolled in this activity will be asked by the teachers of their research unit to register themselves in one or more academic meeting(s) scheduled that year or request being invited to a research laboratory proposed by their teachers.

Evaluation: the report written at the end of this activity will be evaluated by two teachers of the research unit concerned, according to standards specified at the outset.
Supports : the student will have model reports as well as a methodological vade mecum relating to the development and drafting of an academic work.
Accompaniement: each work will be guided by permanent members of the research unit chosen by the student.
