At the end of the course:
C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The student should be able to:
1) understand long and complex factual texts, appreciating distinctions of style;
2) understand, without too much effort, extended speech even when it is not clearly structured (e.g. television programmes and films);
3) present clear, detailed descriptions of complex subjects, developing particular points;
4) express himself/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions;
5) use the language flexibly and effectively for various purposes;
6) formulate ideas and opinions with precision and relate them to those of other speakers.
Main themes
Developing communicative oral skills; revising and strengthening the most complex grammar points; getting acquainted with the language of specific fields of activity (journalism, business, etc)
Content and teaching methods
Communicative skills are systematically developed by means of more complex role plays, interviews in pairs or small groups, possibilities of commenting on recent issues and news etc. More difficult language structures will be revised and actively used in context.
A particular attention will be brought to advanced vocabulary, mostly in terms of nuances and different registers.
